Parada (2023)
4 Cyanotype Silk Panels, 70 x 200 cm each
Parada (Veil) is about alienation and memory.
Families scattered across continents easily lose each other, and a gulf can form between spatial and cultural distance.
What remains are photos of those rare moments when people meet who are strangers but also close relatives - in this case the few photos from 1996, when I visited my Indian family for the first and last time.
In this work, four transparent pieces of silk overlap and symbolise not only the fleeting nature of childhood, but also the multi-layered nature of memories and identity across cultural boundaries and spatial distances.
Parada is part of the project "Man spricht Deutsch"
