„you will change your mind“ is a visual investigation into the expectations of motherhood, bodily autonomy, double standards and sexism.

A childless woman is to be pitied. A childfree woman is to be feared. Women who declare to remain childfree are scrutinized, criticised, belittled and gaslit – surely, “she will change her mind”? It’s the most common phrase thrown at women wo reject motherhood as their future, revealing the impossibility society sees in women who refuse to reproduce and live life at their own terms.

In light of ever more restrictive politics around reproductive rights, this project examines motherhood as a role, fertility as a weapon and bodily autonomy as a feminist fight.
