a promise of land is a photographic project realised during a 6-week civilian sea rescue mission in the Mediterranean Sea in October – November 2021.

The Mediterranean Sea is where Europe’s border politics become the most gruesome performance. 23.334 missing migrants have been recorded in th Central Med between 2014-2021. Their deaths are preventable yet are happening every day as a direct result of border policies.

Getting rid of the aesthetics and codes of photojournalism, this project aims to be a visual investigation and photographic research into the stark contrasts of borders and migration, empathy and apathy, safety and survival.
